Description

With its well-established and enviable expertise in the field of civil engineering—including drilling, blasting, aggregate production, excavation, culvert and guardrail installation, and road and airport repair in Nunavik—Construction Gély Inc. was able to rally its workers to rebuild the access road to the Salluit Airport for the MTQ.

This contract contributed to making the permafrost mitigation methods pilot project, conducted by the Centre for Northern Studies at Laval University, a reality. Specifically, implementation involved the installation of fiber optics, heat sinks, vent stacks and various instruments, all given road and air traffic constraints.

Interestingly, the elevation was of more than 100 m over 1 km. Our team was able to recruit the help of the residents of the Village of Salluit in order to limit inconveniences on the main road connecting the airport to the community. Wet conditions in 2012 made work difficult, but Construction Gély Inc. still managed to meet the deadline.
